After the high excitement of yesterday's helicopter tour around Kauai today we had a laid back day. Walking along the shoreline we found seals and turtles, in areas roped off by a local volunteer. They were even more inclined to laze in the sun, sprinkle sand on their shells or bodies to reflect the direct rays, and occasionally, mount the energy to drag back into the refreshing water. After walking along the beach down to Brenneke's Beach, we debated plans for the rest of the day. Stopping along the way for lunch seemed like a suitably ambitious plan. Later in the day I (Joe) went to the great pool at the club across the street, experiencing the fun of a zippy fast water slide along with the kiddies. In the evening we first went to the "Red Salt" restaurant but found it a little too stuffy and refined, and at a fancy price. We thought better of it and went across the street to Keoki's Paradise for dinner. The hula dancing was done by a local group of avid young learners, truly tasteful and fun, done with so much heart. A suitable last dinner on Kauai.
For the record, here's where we stayed while in Poipu Bay. |
